Sterile cold filling refers to the cold (normal temperature) filling of the beverage product under aseptic conditions, as opposed to the high temperature hot filling method normally used under normal conditions. When filling in sterile conditions, the equipment may cause the site of microbial contamination of the beverage to maintain the sterile state, so do not have to add preservatives in the beverage, do not have to fill the beverage after filling and then post-sterilization, you can Meet the requirements of long shelf life, while maintaining the taste of the drink, color and flavor.

The key to the aseptic cold filling technology is to ensure that the microbes in the beverage after filling and sealing are controlled within the allowable range (ie, commercial sterile). In order to ensure the success of the aseptic cold filling, the production line must meet the following basic requirements: High temperature instantaneous sterilization to a sterile state; packaging materials and sealed containers to be aseptic; filling equipment to a sterile state; filling and sealing to be carried out in a sterile environment; key control points to establish, monitor, record and control.

Hot and cold filling all-round comparison

Although PET aseptic cold filling development time is not long, but the world's major well-known beverage equipment manufacturers have a more mature aseptic cold filling process. The following is a detailed comparison of aseptic cold filling and hot filling.

Hot filling is generally divided into two types.

One is high-temperature hot filling, that is, material after UHT instantaneous sterilization, cooling to 85 ~ 92 ℃ for filling, while the product reflux to maintain a constant filling temperature, and then keep the temperature of the cap sterilization (Figure A).

One is the material sterilization filling at 65 ~ 75 ℃ after pasteurization and add preservatives (Figure B).

These two methods do not require sterilization of the bottle and lid alone, simply keep the product at high temperatures for a long enough time to achieve the bactericidal effect.
